We're often asked what's the difference between Renovations and Refurbishments. Put simply, a renovation can be quite an extensive operation and will usually involve changing the structure of a property. This may include changing the floor layout of a building, adding extra space with an extension to the property or converting an existing space. Many of our refurbishment projects lately have been centred on the removal of redundant features like chimney breasts. As building regulations become more focused on environmentally sustainable construction there is less need for open fire places and chimneys so as a result these are rapidly going out of fashion.
A refurbishment is more focused on the repair or restoration of the fabric of a property. This can include both the condition of the building as well as its appearance.
